ABSTRACT
Four hundred pigeonpea accessions were evaluated and morphological characterization was carried out during kharif 2019 at Pulses Research Station, SDAU Sardarkrushinagar (Gujarat) under Consortium Research Platform (CRP) on Agro-biodiversity. Out of four hundred accession, nine accessions did not germinate whereas, eight germinate but did not flower and eight were single stem. Majority of the accessions showed good early plant vigour (234 acc.), semi spreading plant growth habit (379 acc.), indeterminate plant habit (388 acc.), medium flowering (185 acc.), late flowering (172 acc.) yellow flower colour (350 acc.), green stem colour (391 acc.), glabrous leaf pubescence (389 acc.), sparse streak (175 acc.), glabrous pod pubescence (383 acc.), cylindrical pod shape (354acc.), green and purple pod colour (325 acc.), medium maturity (155acc.) bold seeded (98 acc.), plain seed colour pattern (356 acc.), medium seed eye width (381 acc.), orange base seed colour (276 acc.), globular seed shape (130 acc.) and very low biotic stress susceptibility (290 acc.). Wide range of variability was observed for days to ?owering (92-187 days), primary branches (1.0-13.0), days to maturity (151-227 days), 100 seed weight (3.56-16.06 g). Considering the wide range of variability for qualitative and quantitative characters, germplasm has high potential which is to be utilized in future pigeonpea improvement programmes.
