ABSTRACT
The present study was conducted to evaluate the advantage of using High Density (HD) seeds of rice to show its effect on crop establishment as well as on yield and its components. Seeds from each of twenty genotypes were separated into two classes like Average Density (AD) and High Density (HD) by brine solution method. Five characters like High Density (HD) grain %, 1000 grain weight, number of effective tillers plant-1, number of filled grains panicle-1, yield plant-1 were recorded at corresponding stages of the plant. Analysis of variance showed differential influence of grain density among the genotypes for the characters considered in this present investigation. HD grain showed significant correlation with number of effective tillers plant-1, number of filled grains panicle-1, 1000 grain weight and yield plant-1 with the possible chances of increasing many of important yield related traits considering HD seed as an important character. High heritability (h2) and genetic advance (GA) from population raised through HD seed lot as compared to average seed lot explained that HD seed lot had advantageous effect on enhancement of various yield and its attributing traits.
