ABSTRACT
Genetic variability, heritability, genetic advance and genetic advance as a per cent over mean for sixteen characters were assessed by field evaluation of seventy one genotypes at College of Horticulture, Mudigere (Karnataka) during 2012. High degree of variation was observed for all characters. The difference between phenotypic coefficient of variation and genotypic coefficient of variation were found to be narrow for most of the traits except primary and secondary branches, fifty per cent flowering and harvest index. The high estimates of heritability was found for number of leaves (81.15%), fresh weight of the plant (61.33%), dry weight of the plant (67.56%), herbage yield (73.94%), umbellets per umbel (82.61%), seeds per umbellet (91.87%), thousand seeds weight (98.00%), seed yield per plant (91.70%) and seed yield per hectare (92.51%). High estimates of genetic advance as a per cent over mean was observed for dry weight of the plant, herbage yield, umbellets per umbel, seeds per umbellet, seed yield per plant and seed yield per hectare.
